Every year, we look forward to this event as a way for the UI staff, Associate Board and participants to genuinely connect and get to know each other through an evening of games, team building exercises, and, of course, pizza.

Last Thursday, February 8th, Urban Initiatives hosted its first Board Panel event. We were so fortunate to have Karen Gladstone and Board members Patrick Croke, David Mahoney, and Jimmy Samartzis join 20 Associate Board members at the offices of IMC for a great panel discussion on community involvement, philanthropic topics and professional development.

The UI Associate Board hosted Work to Play program participants from Lawndale, Ward, and Walsh for the 5th Annual #UIAB Pizza Party. Urban Initiatives would like to thank Neil Hirshman, Suzie Bohacik, and Kirkland & Ellis for hosting our Associate Board members, UI students, staff, and coaches for another year of fun!
Amidst a snowy Friday afternoon, an energetic team from Slalom Consulting brought the heat as they welcomed Work to Play teams from Beethoven, Little Village, Sandoval, and Kozminski to Chicago Indoor Sports for an afternoon of friendship and play.
As the first snow of the year descended upon Chicago, Urban Initiatives students from Barry, Jenner, Lloyd, and McNair and volunteers from Accenture were undeterred as they traveled to Windy City Fieldhouse for a much-anticipated Game Day.
The 15th Anniversary Urban Initiatives Halloween Bash was another huge success. For the fourth straight year, Chop Shop and 1st Ward Events welcomed us back to not only have a ton of fun but to support UI’s sports-based youth development programming.
