Urban Initiatives would not be where it is today without supporters like the Doerr family. As we celebrate 10 years of impactful programming, it is important to take a moment to stop and reflect upon the fact that it has truly been a team effort that has accomplished our remarkable milestones of growth, success, and impact in this first decade. Urban Initiatives is more than an organization, it is a community with a mission.
Peter Doerr started working with Urban Initiatives in 2008. From the start, he has been a trusted voice and contributor to the direction of the mission. As a Soccer Ball Host Committee Member, he has helped raise awareness and dollars around Urban Initiatives’ work and has been a crucial part of executing our biggest fundraising event, the Soccer Ball, making it possible for Urban Initiatives’ valuable network and programming to expand into new areas of Chicago. His passion for helping others and his commitment to effective programming has been an invaluable resource to Urban Initiatives’ leadership team and the organization as a whole.
Like many of our longtime supporters, Peter has also gotten his family involved with Urban Initiatives. His daughter, Anna, is a member of the Urban Initiatives Student Board and has demonstrated the same social consciousness and commitment as her father. In her freshmen year, she helped mobilize the Walter Payton soccer teams to organize a fun and engaging soccer clinic for Urban Initiatives’ long-time partner, Jenner Academy of the Arts. After organizing this event in the late fall, she began helping Urban Initiatives prepare for the winter months by assisting in the promotion of a winter clothes drive that will collect much needed winter apparel for our students and families.
Peter Doerr and Doerr family, Urban Initiatives would like to say thank you for your years of dedication and support. You are fantastic team members, and we are thrilled to have you as part of the Urban Initiatives family!
