Urban Initiatives is devastated by the rise in anti-Asian American and Pacific Islander hate crimes including the tragic event that occurred in Atlanta on March 16th that resulted in the murder of eight people, including six women of Asian descent. We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims of this tragedy and their loved ones. These acts are deplorable to say the very least and must not be tolerated.
As an organization that condemns racism, we support the AAPI community and denounce expressions of hate that many continue to face. We are committed as a staff to deepen our understanding of the history and pattern of injustice directed towards people of Asian descent and how we all can serve as stronger allies. We want our Asian identifying stakeholders to know that we stand with you and we are here to support you.
