On March 7, 2026, UI was proud to join the Illinois AfterSchool Network’s annual conference at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois. Representing our team, Elyse Tussey facilitated an impactful session titled Supportive Healing-Centered Environments.
Our workshop directly aligned with the conference theme, Rooted in Purpose, Reaching Potential. We centered our learning on the fundamental belief that every young person deserves a safe, supportive environment where they can truly thrive.
UI regularly presents at state-wide conferences to equip educators and coaches with the essential tools, strategies, and mindsets needed to nurture student growth. By strengthening adult capacity, we create ripple effects that extend beyond individual programs—helping youth regulate emotions, build resilience, and develop essential life skills. In doing so, we not only stay rooted in our mission but also empower students and educators alike to reach their full potential.
Through these engagements, UI remains deeply rooted in our mission while empowering both students and educators to reach their full potential.
