Join Urban Initiatives in celebrating Karen’s 52 weeks of experiences at her finale party. The event will be held at LaSalle Power Company on April 30th at 8:00pm. The event is open to the public and admission is a choice between a $20 charity cover charge or a 3-hour $40 charity drink package. Proceeds from the event will go to us and Chicago Cares – two charities Karen worked with throughout her year of challenges.
More about "Karen On Deck":
One year shy of her 30th birthday, Karen decided that she wanted to challenge her everyday life by having other people create a "bucket list" for her. When standing in line at Walreens, Karen stared at a deck of cards and got a stroke of genius. She realized that there are 52 cards in a deck and 52 weeks in a year – "Karen On Deck" was born.
On each card she wrote "please write a challenge, task or test on the blank portion of the card and mail it back." She mailed the request to 52 different people – family, friends, co-workers, clients, and acquaintances – asking them to help her get out of her comfort zone and try new things. Her mission was simple: each week she would choose a card at random and within 7 days complete the challenge put before her.
Each week, Karen has blogged about her experiences at KarenOnDeck.com. Visit her site to learn more!
