Urban Initiatives Work to Play students and families from Gunsaulus and flag football all stars from Pasteur Elementary diversified and honed their athletic skills by participating in a football clinic graciously put on by the Menomonee club.
At Waveland park, on a beautiful Saturday morning, Urban Initiatives students learned how to catch and throw a football, competed in relay races and even got to practice their snaps. Discovering new ways to be healthy and active athletes, the volunteers on the Flag football league promoted the mission and values of Urban Initiatives by inspiring our students to try a new activity and encouraged them to make lifelong friendships through team sports.
After playing together, Urban Initiatives students and families enjoyed healthy snacks and cheered on their new favorite flag football role models. Team Bears were a crowd favorite and even adopted a new team cheer” Lets go Bears lets go RAWR!” Which was shouted throughout the rest of the game. The Urban Initiatives team ended the unforgettable morning by walking to the lake, together as a team and discussing all of the new skills they had learned that morning.
Thank you David Grass, the Menomonee cluband the Flag Footballers for making Urban Initiatives’s students Saturday morning extra special.
