A day after United hosted Urban Initiatives’ Q2 Board of Directors meeting at its offices in the Willis Tower, Urban Initiatives’ players welcomed a team of United volunteers for an afternoon of Corporate Coaching. After introductions and coming up with team names, the players from Greene Elementary, Beethoven Elementary, Morrill Elementary, and Otis Elementary hit the field for three friendly games.
United’s volunteers, many of whom were veterans of working with Urban Initiatives participants, brought a ton of energy to the games. They applauded players for passing with their sweet spots, encouraged good sportsmanship whether their players were winning or losing, and cheered as their teams strung together passes. The games were fantastic, and it was impossible to tell if the kids or adults were enjoying themselves more.
Urban Initiatives would like to thank United Airlines for being such an incredible partner, and a huge thank you goes out to Meg Whitty for helping to organize such an awesome team for the event.
