With only two practices under their belts, the soccer players at Alfred Nobel Elementary already have a good grasp of what it takes to be on the Urban Initiatives soccer team. As soon as they arrived on Thursday, Jose, a third grader on the team, excitedly told Coach Cynthia that he had gone running with his brother the day before and "didn’t even turn on the TV." When asked if they ate anything healthy during the week, all of the students immediately raised their hands. Answers included apples, carrots, salad, oranges, and even "a funny vegetable that tasted good." On the field, many kids have already mastered "sweet spot passing" and keeping the ball on a leash. The enthusiasm at Nobel is contagious and we are all looking forward to a fun-filled Spring season!
