This summer, Urban Initiatives had some incredible teammates join the fun. Pro athletes from soccer, baseball, and football – Mallory Swanson, Dansby Swanson, Ian Happ, and Jayden Reed – spent time with our community, recognizing and celebrating the impact of our work.
They know firsthand how sports and caring coaches can shape a young person’s life.
And just like us, they believe every child deserves safe, inclusive play and positive role models, no matter their background.
From inspiring meet-and-greets to signing autographs and sharing tickets to their games, these athletes gave our students memories they’ll never forget. More than that, they showed up as living examples of what’s possible when talent, hard work, and teamwork come together.
Their presence underscored what we already know: play is serious. It builds confidence, fosters friendships, and teaches life skills that extend far beyond the field.
We’re proud to stand alongside Mallory, Dansby, Ian, and Jayden as champions for the power of sport for all.
