Brandon Reed hails from Chicago’s south side community of Englewood. Brandon attended Curie Performing Arts High School where he played basketball and trombone in the school band. He then went on to University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana where he studied Recreational Sports.
His favorite thing about Chicago is the “Soul” of the city rooted in the various cultures throughout its unique communities. Brandon was intrigued by working with Urban Initiatives because of the opportunity to give back to the youth of his neighborhood in a positive manner. Brandon was an all around athlete as a kid mastering the art of basketball, football and baseball. Brandon is a neighborhood renowned vinyl collector drawing all the neighbors over to sample his new finds. He wishes he could go back in time and tell a young Brandon Reed to stick with playing the trombone and never give it up. Brandon hopes to make a lasting impact on every kid at his schools through working as a Program Associate at Urban Initiatives.
