On October 2, the Manchester United Coaching staff came out to Prieto Academy to help Urban Initiatives participants practice their skills. The event was a tremendous experience for 65 Prieto students and their families. The event kicked off with the coaches of the world famous soccer club signing autographs for the excited students. Following the warm welcome, each student received their own Manchester United Soccer Ball and the fun began!
Throughout the afternoon the Manchester United coaches focused on ball control as well as the importance of players being mentally focused in order to get the most out of practice. The Prieto team participated in skill drills, listening exercises, and relay races. The coaches wrapped up their teachings with a discussion about the relationship between physical activity and success in the classroom. Parents, players, and coaches enjoyed a snack of fruit, juice, and sandwiches provided by Nike and headed for home after an exciting day of soccer. Thank you to Manchester United, Nike, and the Aon corporation for making this happen!
