On January 30th, we gathered for the 20th Anniversary Soccer Ball,
marking two decades of a Chicago tradition built on a single, powerful idea: connection. The energy in the room was a beautiful reflection of the community we’ve fostered – not just on the field, but across our city.
While the night celebrated twenty years of this event, the true highlight was seeing the bridge between our supporters and the students who inspire us every day.
The UI Continuum: Growing Together
At the heart of the evening was the story of our students’ journey. We celebrated the continuum of growth that happens when a young person is connected to a team. From those first tentative steps on the pitch to the moment they emerge as confident changemakers, our students show us that growth doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through the caring coaches, mentors, and the dedicated network of people- like those in the room on Friday night – who refuse to let them navigate their path alone.

This year’s milestone event brought together 600 guests. The night was a celebration of the unique community that the Soccer Ball has built over 20 years. It was a moment to recognize that when we connect with one another, we create a stronger, more resilient Chicago for our youth.
