The following schools are currently offering Urban Initiatives' Work to Play Program. There are volunteer opportunities available at each of our fourteen school sites.
Crispus Attucks Academy
Location: 5055 S State St, Chicago, IL 60609.
Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: Mr. Christian Nze is the On-Site Program Director and is also an upper-grade special education teacher at Attucks.
Claremont Academy Elementary School
Location: 2300 W 64th St, Chicago, IL 60636.
Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: Mr. Jonathan Meeks is the On-Site Program Director and is also an teacher at Claremont.
Richard J Daley Elementary Academy
Location: 5054 S Wolcott Ave, Chicago, IL 60609.
Days and Times: Monday and Wednesday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: Mr. Arturo Jauregui is the On-Site Program Director and is also a teacher at Daley.
J. W. Von Goethe Elementary School
Location: 2236 N Rockwell Street, Chicago, IL 60647.
Days and Times: Monday and Wednesday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Directors: Mr. Jose Feliciano is the On-Site Program Director as well as the music teacher at Goethe.
Friedrich L. Jahn School
Location: 3149 N Wolcott Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657.
Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Directors: The On-Site Program Director is Mr. Gerardo Salinas who is also a Spanish teacher at Jahn.
Edward Jenner Academy of the Arts
Location: 1119 N Cleveland Avenue, Chicago, 60610. At Division and Cleveland in the Cabrini-Green community.
Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 2:45 to 4:30 pm.
On-Site Program Director: Mr. Daniel Isherwood is the On-Site Program Director at Jenner, as well as a Co-Founder and Executive Director of Urban Initiatives.
Arthur A. Libby School
Location: 5300 S Loomis Blvd, Chicago, IL 60609.
Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: The On-Site Program Director and physical education teacher at Libby is Mr. Joel Tlachac.
Morton School of Excellence
Location: 431 N Troy St, Chicago, IL 60612
Days and Times: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: The On-Site Program Director at Morton is Mr. Parker Swanson who is also a Pre-K teacher at the school.
James Otis Elementary School
Location: 525 N Armour St, Chicago, IL, 60642
Days and Times: Tuesday and Thursday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: The On-Site Program Director at Otis Ms. Yu Byun who is also a Special Education Assistant at the school.
Dr. Jorge Prieto Math and Science Academy
Location: 2231 North Central Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60639
Days and Times: Monday and Wednesday before school 7:15 to 8:30am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: The On-Site Program Director at Prieto is Mr. John Laughlin who is also a fourth grade teacher at the school.
William Claude Reavis Elementary
Location: 834 E 50th St, Chicago, IL, 60615.
Days and Times: Monday and Wednesday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: The On-Site Program Director at Reavis is Mr. Mike Berger who is also a teacher at Reavis.
William T. Sherman Elementary School
Location: 1000 W 52nd Street, Chicago, IL 60609.
Days and Times: Monday and Wednesday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 3:00 to 4:30pm.
On-Site Program Director: The On-Site Program Director at Sherman is Mr. Ryan Eggert who is also a math teacher in the upper school at Sherman.
John A. Walsh Elementary School
Location: 2015 S Peoria Street, Chicago, IL 60608. In the Pilsen community, at Peoria and Cullerton.
Days and Times: Monday and Tuesday before school 7:30 to 8:45am. Friday after school 2:45 to 4:15pm.
On-Site Director: The On-Site Program Director at Walsh is Emily Serr who is also a special education teacher at Walsh.
